Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of booking Pompano Beach fishing charters with Big Game Charters?

A 4-hour half-day trip starts at $750. Our 6-hour 3/4-day is $1,200, the 8-hour full-day is $1,500, and the 10-hour offshore swordfish trip is $2,000. Every charter is private, so the price covers the whole boat for up to 6 anglers.

What is included in the price?

Every trip includes rods, reels, tackle, bait, and your Florida fishing license, plus catch cleaning and filleting at the dock. You'll fish with Captain Norm and his mate aboard the Rebound, a 52-foot Merritt with four fighting chairs and a livewell.

What should I bring?

Bring polarized sunglasses, food, and drinks. That's it. All fishing gear, tackle, bait, and licensing are covered. Sunscreen and a hat are smart in summer, and a cooler is handy if you plan to take your catch home.

Can I keep my catch?

Yes. Everything you catch is yours to keep, and the crew cleans and fillets it at the dock before you leave. If you'd rather release your fish, just tell the captain. Plenty of our anglers do on billfish.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations are free up to one day before your trip. If weather makes it unsafe to run, Captain Norm will call you to reschedule. We don't take groups out in conditions that won't fish well or won't be comfortable.

Do I need to tip the crew?

The mate works for tips, so 20-30% of the trip price is customary if he's done a good job. It isn't required and it isn't built into the price. You settle up at the dock at the end of the day.

What time do trips depart?

Half-day trips leave at 7:00 AM or 12:30 PM. Our 6-hour, 8-hour, and 10-hour swordfish charters all depart at 7:00 AM. Plan to arrive about 15 minutes early at Hillsboro Inlet Fishing Center, 2705 N Riverside Dr.

Is live bait included?

Tackle and standard bait are included in every trip. Live bait is available for $80 a dozen if you want it, which is worth it when the sailfish and kingfish are keyed in on it. Captain Norm will tell you when it's likely to make a difference.

How many people can join a fishing trip?

Each charter takes up to 6 anglers, and every trip is private, so you're never sharing the boat with strangers. The Rebound is a 52-foot Merritt, so there's room to fish comfortably without crowding the cockpit.

Do I need a fishing license?

No. Your fishing license is covered under the boat's charter license for everyone aboard, so there's nothing to buy or arrange beforehand. Just show up ready to fish.

Are there family-friendly fishing trips available?

Yes. Half-day trips suit anglers of every skill level, including kids. The crew helps first-timers get on the fish, and the calmer nearshore water is an easier introduction than a long run offshore.

What fish can I catch off Pompano Beach, and when?

Sailfish run November through May, mahi-mahi April through August, and blackfin tuna May through September. Wahoo peak in fall and winter, swordfish from summer into fall, and kingfish, snapper, and grouper are available year-round.

How do I book a trip?
